Dr. Berhane was an Assist. Prof at Drexel Univ. SPH. He also served as a research advisor to Mercy Health System. He received his Ph.D. and Master’s in Biostatistics from University of Pittsburgh. He was also a Post Doc Associate where he worked on research projects involving post-transplant survival,& the analysis of a Medicare database related to ICU deaths in the Medicare population. He developed flexible survival models extension of Cox’s model based on Pseudospline to allow for time varying covariate effects as well as non linear effects, and extended global proportionality test for these models. He also played an instrumental role in developing flexible models to allow inference on multiple time-to-event outcomes to assess the effectiveness of tamoxifen as a preventive agent for the breast cancer based on the NSABP Breast Cancer Prevention Trial. He was the leading statistician on program and intervention evaluation in the PCEN and PAAAP Medical Home based Initiative on CYSHCN.
