For family-caregivers of children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN), the diagnosis of their child that most concerns them in a disaster scenario is crucial information that can help medical home providers and emergency personnel support these families in their disaster planning. Our interdisciplinary team of clinical and service providers conducted a virtual home preparedness intervention (VHPI) in a diverse sample of family-caregivers of CYSHCN recruited from a statewide medical home network (n = 170). The CYSHCN had reliance on medical equipment/utility, physical or mobility needs, intellectual disability, and/or vision/hearing impairment. In this project, we evaluated participants’ responses to questions about their child’s diagnosis of greatest concern in an emergency.
